When my daughter was 18 months old, we saw Amy Conley perform at the Milford Pumpkin Festival. My daughter was mesmorized for a whole hour. We signed up for her classes a few weeks later and are hooked. I am amazed at how many of the lyrics she remembers from songs we haven't played in months. She will now at age 2 1/2 randomly start singing the songs. We also had Amy come perform for her 2nd birthday, and the kids had a blast. Amy is super talented and can play many instruments and lets the kids try them all out too. The classes keep the kids & parents engaged, moving, playing instruments, and singing. Highly recommended!"   Michelle L,  Merrimack NH

Family Music in Nature:  Music and Movement for Early Childhood!

Along with being a basic life skill and expressive art form, MUSIC develops the brain -- especially the young child's brain which is developing at a rapid rate during the infant and preschool years--including executive function skills which are so important for future learning.  In Amy's class, infants are taking in the experience of humans creating music (in a wide variety of modes and rhythms) while toddlers and preschoolers are experimenting with their own music-making as they imitate the adults and older children in class. In each session, parents and other caregivers learn techniques to foster an enriched music environment at home and create a lasting bond with their children.   Moving with accurate rhythm & singing in tune are learned through play, repetition and experimentation. Freedom is encouraged within a structured set of developmentally appropriate activities involving movement and props (such as rhythm instruments, balls, streamers, hoops, scarves) while varied learning styles are respected and included. Multicultural traditional music, along with music composed especially for children, provide a wide variety of rhythms, tones and modes/styles so that the musical patterns we learn are varied and rich. This wide pallet of musical styles will contribute to the child's future ability to be more creative with music and with patterns in general (such as those used in math and art, for example). In fact, research has indicated that music activities combined with movement involve more areas of the developing brain than ANY other one activity, helping children develop cognitively, emotionally and physically.
